In Lane Tag Sales Reach 100,000

Beginning in April of last year, TxTags have been available in all main line toll plazas on Loop 1, SH 45, and SH 130. Customers can purchase unregistered tags for $20 cash in pre-paid tolls, and the tags can be used immediately. As of November 12, over 100,000 tags have been purchased by customers on the go on TxDOT roadways, bringing the grand total of active TxTags to 733,719. Like so many others, these customers know that with a TxTag you’ll always pay the lowest rates on toll roads across the state.

SH 45 Southeast Now Open

State Highway 45 Southeast is now open to traffic. The new 7.4 mile toll road connects the State Highway 130 toll road at its south end to I-35. Drivers can now avoid traffic congestion through central Austin and travel nonstop from Georgetown to Buda on the SH 130/SH 45 toll bypass. State Highway 45 Southeast will be free for all motorists in May and free for TxTag users in June.

The state-of-the-art network of 70-mile-per-hour tollways is part of the Texas Department of Transportation's long-range plan to keep Central Texans moving into the 21st century by reducing traffic congestion, enhancing safety, boosting the local economy and helping to improve air quality.

Camino Colombia Now Open

The Camino Colombia toll road (SH 255) begins near the Colombia-Solidarity International Bridge and stretches 22 miles east to I-35 north of Laredo. With a new electronic tolling system, drivers can enjoy non-stop travel along Camino Colombia and avoid congested I-35 and traffic at the Laredo/Mexico border.

Drivers with a TxTag on their windshield will be able to use the Camino Colombia toll road for free the entire month of May. Starting June 1, 2009, you must have a TxTag to use the Camino Colombia toll road. Drivers will no longer be able to pay with cash or a swipe card at a toll booth. All tolls on Camino Colombia will be collected electronically, and only drivers with a prepaid TxTag account will be allowed to use the toll road.

Current swipe card customers may request a refund of their account balance by calling 1-956-712-7790. Swipe card balances cannot be transferred to a TxTag account.  Visit http://caminocolombia.org/ for more information.

Transfer of SH 121

On April 5, toll operations of SH 121 transfer from the Texas Department of Transportation (Texas Tollways) to the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA). During the transition period, you may receive bills from both Texas Tollways and NTTA because of differences in billing schedules. You will not be billed twice for the same trip. Any unpaid tolls due to Texas Tollways must be paid, and if not paid on time, may be subject to administrative fees and court fines.

Passenger cars will be charged the same toll rates when NTTA assumes operations of SH 121; however, other vehicle classes may see a slight change. Please call 1-877-991-0033 or visit www.ntta.org to obtain toll rates.
